Designed in collaboration with The North Face® athletes, the Summit Torre Egger FUTURELIGHT™ Jacket defies the challenges of high alpine climbing, taking you further, higher. Engineered with the highest level of breathable-waterproof protection, it’s built for pushing your limits, even in the most extreme weather conditions. The three-layer fabric is lighter under the arms, with underarm vents for breathability and comfort.
Special zips help reduce bulk and increase flexibility, while the helmet-compatible hood is fully adjustable with a bonded brim that keeps the rain off your face without blocking your vision. And if you’re carrying a backpack during your climb, seamless shoulders reduce the chances of chafing and discomfort. Even better, recycled materials make it better for the environment, protecting the landscapes we tread. Comfortable, weather proof, breathable with with enough room for mid layers. Fits great with a backpack. Outside chest pocket is fine for wallet, but it is to small to fit a standard cell phone. I would trade one of the inside drop pockets for a secured inside pocket for my wallet or phone. I wish the jacket included a wrist pocket for my ski pass, making it perfect for the slopes.

This jacket replaced my old shell that was torn by the pits area. So far this lives up to my expectation that is keeping me dry and blocking the wind. When the temperature drop I would add extra layer inside this jacket. I'm glad I made this purchase.

I really like the build quality of this new future light. I previously had the 1st gen. And while I liked how thin and stretchy it was.. this one feels more like 3ply goretex… I hope will be just as waterproof as goretex since that first gen years ago didn't last.

I bought this jacket for Mountaineering and climbing, but use it as an everyday waterproof too. Its excellent, the helmet hood and collar fold down when not in use and aren't too bulky. If the weather gets bad its easy to zip all the way up and cinch the elastic around the head, the soft fabric on the chin to prevent rubbing is a nice touch. The ability to open up the underarms for additional ventilation is nice too, if I have a down later underneath it allows me to be both warm and waterproof without overheating.
