On technical climbs in freezing conditions, you need the warmth, but you don’t need the weight. Loaded with 800-fill ProDown™ insulation, the Summit Breithorn Hooded Down Jacket offers both. It delivers high-level warmth and compressibility while retaining its loft, even in wet conditions.
There’s an attached, helmet-compatible hood and raglan sleeves for full arms-up mobility. We’ve also added underarm gussets for freedom of movement on the ascent. And if things get too hot and sweaty, you can pack this lightweight jacket into its pocket to keep it safely out the way. That’s not all – recycled materials make it better for nature.

This jacket fits perfectly and is ideal for those seeking unrestricted movement around the chest area. It's like a lightweight duvet but feels very warm. I regularly wear just a T-shirt underneath at 0°C and only need to layer up when the temperature drops below freezing. As other reviewers have mentioned, the jacket lacks a DWR coating which is a little disappointing. However, DWR coatings eventually wear off. I've sprayed mine with Nikwax which works well.

Long over due review. I bought a 2023 Breithorn Hoodie (forest green) and not even a week wearing it and after packing inside its own pocket, feathers are popping out already. Constantly coming out and stitching is coming off too in several areas. Breithorn is warm and light too! One more thing I don't like about the design is the zipper! I hate it when north face change the color the zipper especially for expensive insulated jacket. Please bring back the matching zipper for all jackets please! Anyways I sent it out to warranty department and unfortunately somebody lost my hoodie in transit. Gave me a virtual gift card though thanks for the good customer service north face! I don't recommend the breithorn line and just buy the terra peak instead and with same look but good quality! Breithorn is over priced but low quality!

Just opened this up, but haven't tested it yet. I bought it as insurance in the pack for backcountry days. A warm piece of insulation that could double as either a heavy midlayer under a bomber shell, or a lighter belay jacket to throw over my system when necessary. Based on the fit, it's perfect for this purpose. I'm 6'1" and 195; the fit is spot-on for this purpose. I could wear it casually over a T Shirt, but it works equally well over a fleece and shell as a belay jacket. So far, so good.

Great product which is expected from North Face. I have several non Summit Series jackets and they pale in comparison to this one. A bit more expensive but I feel it's totally worth it. My wife stated that of all the gifts I bought her in our 11 years of marriage, this is the best one. This is high praise since I've bought her an Apple Watch, laptops, clothes, and jewelry in the past. She said this is like wearing a warm and cozy sleeping bag and never wants to take it off. I was skeptical but after testing it out in cold weather and in light rain, I'm am throughly pleased with my purchase and would recommend it to anyone who wants an affordable, comfortable, warm, and high quality product.
